Fragments of Farewell

green bird on tree branch covered with snow

In the stillness of night, where shadows creep,

A heart aches quietly, a sorrow so deep.

Memories linger like whispers in air,

Each moment a treasure, now heavy with care.

The laughter we shared, now echoes in pain,

A tapestry woven with joy and with strain,

Yet time, the relentless, moves softly along,

While I search for solace in a world that feels wrong.

The chair by the window, now empty and bare,

The warmth of your presence, now just a cold stare.

I reach for the fragments of what used to be,

But grasping at shadows just deepens the sea.

Yet in every tear, there's a shimmer of light,

A reminder of love that once burned so bright.

For loss is a teacher, though heavy the cost,

It carves out space for the love that won't frost.

So I'll hold onto memories, both bitter and sweet,

For in every heartbeat, our stories repeat.

Though you're gone from my sight, you'll forever remain,

A part of my journey, a love without chain.
